At 1 cm = 1000 km
NY to LA ~5 cm
diameter of earth ~13 cm
geosync orbit ~37 cm
distance to moon 3.84 m
distance to sun (1 AU) ~1.5 km
1 parsec ~300,000 km
And the nearest star is about as far as the moon...
