My main computer has been going down a lot recently. Seems to be small power glitches. Just long enough to make it crash or reboot. The UPS beeps, and down it goes.\

Apparently these are split second power drops. So short that not even the clocks notice.

and, that means that the UPS isn't all that uninterruptible. I knew it needed replacing, but it was on the back burner. Until now. I put in new batteries a while back, but they didn't help. I assume something else is messed up in it.

Hadn't been a problem until the last week or two. Before that I'd get a drop every week over two. Now I'm getting them multiple times a day. Sometimes multiple times an hour (had two while I'm writing this!)

So I ordered a new (and bigger) UPS. That was lots of fun, as I was truing to do it on my secondary computer. All sorts of hassles with passwords and finally having to turn off the VPN.

It's supposed to arrive Tuesday. So I will be posting even less than usual until it gets here.

Have you considered that the brief power drops might be _caused_ by the UPS?

Probably not, but even if so you already have plans to replace it.

(My workplace and home both used to be plagued by power drops. Fortunately, the Frankfort Plant Board has been upgrading the infrastructure the past few years.)

Alas!
