Yeah, I felt like they carried through the 80's vibe to the physics behind the film and went for an 80's action movie feel to that too, which didn't really work. I mean, I understand the rationale for the cartoon physics, they know how to make it all look right and they're not incompetent, but they went for an 80's aka outdated action movie logic to it...and it just didn't work because it's not the 80's any more and we expect our movies to get the physics right and not look cheesy.
Basically, they carried the whole 80's thing way to far and the mistakes Jill points out are deliberate choices... bad ones, but not a mistake.
