These people are not suffering from mental illness.
Rather they have an antisocial (but far too common) worldview that says that they are entitled to take "revenge" on other people because of things that are wong with their lives.
That's horriblle. But it's not actually mental illness.
It's "social" illness. A case of horribly distorted views about morals, ethic and the like.

Date: 2019-08-06 01:24 pm (UTC)That's the point I keep making. The problem is not a legal or technical one (though there are definitely legal and technical ramifications) but a social one. We are a violent society (though some segments and some individuals are more violent than others). We need to work on changing that, in the same way we are working to reduce smoking and drinking and sexual harassment. Things like violent video games are a symptom, and not a cause.
Of course, it's a lot easier to pass a law or make a rule than to change a society...
