Yay! happy fun time

alatefeline picked up me and fayanora Wednesday afternoon. My favorite winged cat-person had wanted to meet Fay and Fay was willing. since Fay had Wednesday free, that was when we did it.

It was decided to go visit Powell's again.

We browsed odd items, then browsed the books and things. We wound up talking for *hours* in the coffee shop.

Topics ranged all over the place, some ancient SA stories, various books. Silly t-shirts and more.

a good time was had buy all. Since I had some books at home that alatefeline wanted to read (well, re-read for the first part of the series) when they took us home, I got them to come up. They were not appalled by the apartment. :-)

I had something to eat after they left and took a nap. Got up a few hours ago and had "dinner (and the required meds).

Since I'd been digging thru the freezer a few days ago (to see what I could use up to free space) I'd pulled a roast that I'd noticed had the plastic torn. Probably a bit freezer burned. It's currently in the crockpot on low with a bunch of carrots and potatoes and various bits.

Should make good eating for a day or three.

Gotta make some pasta & chicken salad for Fiday, to share with fay. Recipe on the wacky Mac package, but I'll be leaving out the onions so fay can have some. I'll just add them to mine seperately. I already checked that the dressing is Fay-friendly.

Next big cooking bit will be the huge bag of frozen chicken drumsticks (probably do imitation shake & bake with those, and the bag of catfish fillets.

Need to make some meat loaf and spaghetti t use up stuff too.

Me, I was getting a bit hermitified. But I'm apparently expanding my circle of friends a bit.

Just took noticing that someone interesting was local, and inquiring about meeting each other in a public place.

Also: the bookstore is something I'd probably want to see if I ever get your way.

The main Powells store is "interesting". It's got a number of floors that don't align.

It has several elevators, and one of them has three doors because the weird ways the floors go.

Oh yeah, it's an entire city block.

Other fun things to see are Mill Ends Park & Leprechaun Preserve. It's world famous. Then there's Forest Park, which while it may not be the biggest City park in existence anymore, it's huge.

The Oregon Zoo Max stop is kinda neat, as they've got a core sample from the drilling involved in creating it in a case along one wall. Deepest transit stop in the US, over 200 feet deep in solid basalt.

Mrrrr. If you could get here, Fallon, I would take you to Mt Tabor park to feel the wind from every direction and touch the great big conifers that are as wide across as a tall human is tall and taste blackberries and bask in the sun and listen to birds. Since you are not here I will go sometime soon and I will try to write a good description.
