Ever see "House of Frankenstein"? The mad scientist (Karloff) and his hunchbacked assistant find that the Monster and the Wolfman (whose fight at the end of "Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman" was interrupted by the flood from the destroyed dam) were washed into the ice cave below. (Talbot found the Monster there in the previous movie.) They build a huge fire to melt them free.

I imagine there are many monsters which can survive being frozen... but the adventurers may not know that. They decide to melt the strange creatures in the ice cave free to eat or search for treasure or whatever... and discover they're not really dead! :-)
