kengrWell, I had a hunch and went with it. And was able to strip out most of the garbage that Publisher had put in those web pages. The main page has gone from 767k to 11k. The other pages have gone from 249k to 5-7k.
And I'm not done editing.
Note that the pages look exactly the same, right down to the silly image map links and other stupidities.
Once I finish the current pass and confirm that everything still works, I'll send this version of the pages off to my friend. Then I'll see about rewriting them into rational code (ie something that doesn't use images to display text.
