This is wrong on *so* many levels.
First of all, asking the poster to change links on other sites. Not possible.
Next, Mailto links consist of the string "mailto" followed by a colon and an emaikl address, and sometimes, some extra strings that set a subject and part of the content of the email mressage.
What's generating the "please download Outlook" is the *browser* they've got installed. Even IE will go to a third party mailer when you click on a mailto link. *IF* you have Windows configured so that mailer is your default mail app.
So, either the mail app isn't configured as the default mail app by the company (stupid, but not at all unlikely), or it's not *capable* of getting passed mailto links from the browser (less likely)
And this, my friends, is why consultants charge the rates they do. Because it takes a *lot* of money to put up with this sort of idiocy.

Regarding standard mailto tags: "Every time the end user clicks on an e-mail address, they are prompted to download Outlook. The company uses a different e-mail program. Can you change the links so that they open that program?"
