Ah yes, PE...
Mar. 4th, 2007 04:24 pm Is school PE really the answer to “childhood obesity?”
I wasn't fat back then (in fact, from looking at the one pic I have, I was *skinny*) but I hated PE for similar reasons. Having "asthma" meant many PE activities were hell. And far too few gym teachers took more than a minor notice of the fact that I wasn't physically *capable* of keeping up with the other kids.
Given that until High School I was *walking* two miles to school (when I wasn't biking) and that the last half dozen blocks involved a 300 foot uphill climb, I wasn't "unfit". I just wasn't in shape for anything that involved running, or arm strength.
How many of you wish it was a punishable offense for gym teachers to show scorn for any pupil just because they "couldn't keep up" or were bad at an activity?
