Calling all geeks....
Mar. 26th, 2005 04:43 pmI'm looking for anybody with experience with "PocketPC" type handhelds. Not Palm pr Palm derivatives.
I've got several Phillips Velo units which are ok, but a bit long in the tooth. And lacking a few features.
I want something that has a keyboard. Not an add-on. It'd take entirely too long to train a unit to read my chicken scratches. and I write and print *far* slower than I type.
The Velo's keyboard is about the size of a check, so small isn't a major problem. something a bit bigger would be nice, but I can live with it.
A full-size keyboard is *too* big, and folding ones are a pain.
I also need decent battery life. I suppose it's too much to hope for the ability to use *normal* batteries in a pinch (one of the features I like about the Velo is that if the proprietary battery goes dead on you, you can use a pair of AA batteries).
A PCMCIA slot or built in wireless is a must. a CF slot would be nice if it's got built-in wireless, but given the PC card slot I can use my adapter card.
Win CE is what my current unit uses, so that would be nice on a replacement. 2.0 or later.
So, any suggestions as to units?
