Just got a call from Lin.

She was calling from Missoula. Seems the engine in their van died. $2000 for repairs. Seems the odd "ticking" noise the engine had been making was a rod... Ouch.

She'll be stuck there for over a week. Kermit will be going home some other way, ASAP because he needs to get back to his job.

She told me they also had a blowout on one of the tires, and wound up having to replace all 4, as apparently they were worn well beyond what they should have been. At least he got a discount because the tires were Les Schwab, and so was the dealer they went to to get the new ones.

I'm getting ready to head out and spend a couple of hours each way on the bus & MAX to go to their place and feed and water their cat.

At least she told me where the box of stuff she was going to give me anyway was, so I can haul some of it back with me. <g>

Good thoughts for Lin and Kermit, please.

Whew!

I'm back from my mission of mercy.

That cat (as expected) ran off when I showed up. She's got access thru a cat door, so that's not a problem.

She had plenty of water, and had only eaten half her food. But I topped things off anyway.

I found the stuff Lin had told me to pick up, and while I was at it I harvested some berries and tiny tomatoes from the garden.

She's got this tomato plant that produces zillions of tomatoes from "cherry tomato" size on down thru pea sized and even a few BB sized ones. There are still lots of tomatoes on the plant but I got almost two cups of tomatoes. I got almost as many blackberries and 4 raspberries.

Looks like my vitamin supply is assured for a bit. :-)
