I was out running errands today. I needed to pick up the keyboard I'd ordered at Best Buy, and I had a target gift card I was planning to use on something they had listed on their web site. Plus I figured I'd hit a couple other places.

Since I was going to be using the airport MAX line, I checked the hours for the Powells at the airport. Turned that they they'd been open for several hours, as had the Target. Best buy and other places didn't open til 11.

So I hopped the bus to the transit center and hopped on the MAX. Walking thru the airport proved that I *really* need more exercise.

Turns out the Powells at the airport is smaller than my apartment and didn't have anything I was interested in. Oh well.

Got back to the MAX and rode it to the Mt Hood Ave stop. Practically across the street from the target. Of course, the entrance was at the other end of the store. Bah.

Then, what I was looking for was at the opposite end of the store from the entrance. And they didn't have it. Got some assistance not only did they not have it, *none* of the local stores did. (went online after I got home, and it appears that the nearest store that carries it is in Colorado!!!!)

I may either order enough to qualify for shipping, or see if they'll do the "in store pickup" bit for something they have to ship that far.

So, next it was off to WorstBest Buy. Which, again had the entrance on the wrong side of the building. Found a stylus for the kindle for a not too outrageous price (it doesn't always respond to my fingers). Didn't like the cases they had. Nor the prices. So I bought the stylus and picked up the keyboard (Logitech K480).

Then I slogged over to the the Verizon store. They've been notifying me that I qualified for upgrades for some time, so I figured I'd check it out.

Four clerks, no customers. I explained that I wanted to check into upgrades.

First thing I asked was what the cheapest data plan was (My bill is $28/month, so this is a significant consideration). Last time I'd asked, it was $25/mo. Now it's $55/mo. I explained about my current bill and asked about phones that didn't require a data plan.

I was shown 5 "basic" phones. I asked if any had keyboards (I text a lot) even though the answer looked obvious. The answer was no, so I bid them good day and left.

Then it was across a couple of streets to the Cascade Station MAX stop. Caught that, transferred to the bus home and pretty much collapsed for a while.

One nice bit was that the iBook case that Fay had given me along with her old Dana fits the keyboard nicely. So if I decide to drag it around, it'll have protection.

Oh yeah, for those wondering why I got the keyboard, I do have other devices that it can be used for. but it's also a matter of needing a better way than the on-screen keyboard to enter bookmarks and the like.
