I didn't do much of anything with the garden last year for similar reason. I made an effort to do stuff this year simply because the fresh food is a big help.(that's why I don't do flowers).

As for shoes, I prefer brick and mortar, because I can actually try on things. Yeah, I could send stuff back if it didn't fit but that adds to the time and cost.

I may do it someday just so I can have things like high heels, but that's a ways in the future.

I avoid going barefoot, even at home, because diabetics are at *major* risk if they damage their feet.

Had a friend who got diabetes, continued working barefoot in his home workshop (working on *metal*) and wound up losing a leg to an infection. And dying not too long after that.

He's one of several "bad examples" I keep in mind...

I wear some crocs flip-flops around the apartment. They are nicely cushioned (as opposed to most other flip-flips where the foam compress under my weight and I go lame because my toes are higher than my heels).
