Periodic request

Please do not send me e-cards. Most are just address harvesters for spammers, and too much spam and other nasty things show up in email *claiming* to be a link to an e-card sent by "a friend".

I delete all such email, so don't waste your time and mine.

I've been seeing a growing sentiment to consider EACH such individual "phishing" solicitation as a SEPARATE attempted wire fraud offense. With the result that even at the most trivial sentencing "30 days in the hole" levels we'd be rid of these cretins for decades of lockup PER JURISDICTION... The trick is having informed juries request the sentences run as consecutive:> Imagine the deterrent effect from seeing CourtTV shows featuring a Phisher before the judge hearing their fate:

"For 982,724 counts of attempted wire fraud and 3,926 counts of identity theft this court sentences you to One hundred fifty-five years in the county jail before you are eligible for parole"

kengr, I agree with you for the most part. Technology will be improved every year. The appetite for this behavior will have to compete with those who are losing the appetite for spam and other garbage that infects peoples computers.
