Busy times
Monday,
fayanora came over as usual for TVC watching and general hanging out.
However, this being the first of the month meant it was also grocery shopping day. I'd pointed out a day or three before that I was *not* going to go out to Winco when it was in the upper 90s. But Fay overslept and showed up later than normal.
Being her birthday, I told her to head over to the bakery section at Albertsons. Great minds think alike. She too wanted something from the cold case.
The ice cream cakes were way too big (and expensive) the cheesecakes were a possibility, but we'd done that before. I noticed they have some cream pies. I suggested either the chocolate cream pie or the lemon sour cream pie. She went for the lemon. Good choice, I'd had it before and it's nummy.
I also steered her over to the case of "odd" sodas they have at one end of the frozen foods aisle,. Stuff like Dad's Root Beer, various ginger alies anfd ginger berrs, Blue Cream soda, Blue Raspberry soda, several varieties of orange and grape sodas, etc. She spotted some Huckleberry sodas. SO bought two, one for each of us. When we tried them later, they weren't bad. Not necessarily something either of us would by again, but we aren't sorry we tried them.
Since I'd been up a fair bit (long before Fay was up), I wound up taking a nap for several hours. Fay used the other room to get her internet fix.
Afterwards, I got curious and checked the bus schedules since it was starting to cool off. turned out we *could* catch sa bus in a few minutes and get out to Winco, but not get back. But seeing when the first bus back in the morning was, I checked to see when the first one *out* in the morning was.
Turned out to be not that much after the time Fay had been known to head for home anyway. So I suggested going them. Fay later argued that this was the first time I'd mentioned going in the morning, but I had suggested in several days before. So there!
Anyway, we wound up postponing it a bit so we wouldn't wake Amy over at Fay's place.
We wound up being at Winco at an hour neither of us had ever been there (slightly before 7 am, I think) We had to dodge around folks stoicking shelves and the like, but we managed to get our stuff anyway. I'd forgotten my shopping list and fay hadn't gotten around to making hers yet. I managed to recreate mine on the bus (perfectly it turns out).
Took us longer than usual to get everything (partly because we were doing more dodging around stockers). But I was home be 8:20 am.
I actually stayed up for a few hours after that before crashing. Got up in the afternoon and did normal stuff.
This morning I woke around 5 am. Had to wai to 6 to check my blood glucode. It was high, probably because I was a very bad girl with some of the stuff I ate the night before.
Had a salad for breakfast (bought a bunch at Winco so I wouldn't have to *cook* food).
after that it was still pretty cool. I had to pay the cable bill, but they wouldn't be open until 9. There was a place a mile or two past the Comcast office that I hadn't ridden this season, so I figured I could kill an hour or two there.
Got there ok (used a different route than I usually do, and it was much easier) Rode most of the trail, but I'd forgotten how short it was. Since I was only a few blocks from the I-205 bike path when I got back to the start of the trail, I rode that too.
I'd been intending to drop by the Gateway TC and mall anyway. It was still early, but I figured I'd check.
Just as well, turns out there isn't a Verizon store there anymore. But I was pleased to find that my other stop (Office Depot) opened at 8 am, and it was 7:59 when I got there.
Got my purchase (a new file box for 3x5 cards, as mine had outgrown the old box).
Rode back done the bike path to Prescott, and headed off to Concast.
Oh yeah, one odd thing along the bike path. I know there are folks who camp off in the woods to one side of oit, even though that's railroad property and posted as no trespassing. But I was surprised to see a tent pitched near a pair of trees on the crest of the hill. Not at all hidden. Even weirder, I saw the guy (it looked to be a one man tent) heading off to the mall along the trail.
*I* certainly wouldn't make such an *exposed* camp and then *leave* it.
Oh well, it's his gear.
Anyway, I got to Prescott, followed it to Sandy, and rode until I hit the *big* uphill slope from around 90th to 8th. I walked the bike onr that, thank you very much.
Got to Comcast about 9:15 and got the bill paid. All downhill from there to home.
Looks like a total of 10.7 miles over 2 hours of moving (a bit under 3 hours total) Moving average was 5.4 mph (mot bad consoidering how much of it was walking uphill).
An odd note. My max heart rate was while walking the bike up a slope (hit 160 for a minute).
Guess I'll hit the verizon store when Fay and I go to use up a coupon for a free burger and Burger King. There's a Verizon store near Batteries Plus, and that's not far from the Burger King. I need more AA batteries anyway).
I'm wanting to talk to the Verizon folks because I got a flyer for a plan that sounds better than my current plan *and* it's cheaper. I'm paying $47/month now, and only have something like 500 texts, and some amount I don't recall of talk time. And *no* data plan.
The offer is $35/month and has unlimited texts and unlimited mobile web. Plus 500 anytime minutes. so it sounds like a major win.
I want to know what the catch is (there actually might not be one, my ciurrent plan is kinda odd because I got moved off Chrissy's familiy plan because she needed to cut costs, so I have a weird sort of not-quite-a-contract contract)
I'd not be surprised to find that the "catch" is that I don;t get a new phone every few years. Well, I got told when we moved my phone from Chrissy's plan that I don't qualify for that anyway. So...

If it's her birthday she can sleep as late as she wants. It's, like, a law or something. :-^)
