Ok, hadn't remembered that...

Finally got a copy of Roddenberry's old pilot episode for "Genesis II" (from 1973) bit of a shock when the main character introduced himself as "Dylan Hunt".

But now that I think about it, it sort of makes sense. "Genesis II" was about hunt getting trapped in suspended animation for a long time and then helping put the world back together. Same goes for the second attempt Roddenberry made a year or so later "Planet Earth".

So "Andromeda" was just moving it out into space.

And it's not exactly original. Track down a copy of the *original* "Buck Rogers" book. Same idea.

Wow...

Now that you mention it, ya...that was his name.

As for Anthony "Buck" Rogers, ya Armageddon 2419 A.D. was a cool book.

There was a series of followup books I've got buried in storage.
The first two were good, the last one was...well pretty fornication weird and had little connection to the earlier books.

My personal theory is the author was under contract pressure and just pounded out crap to get the publisher off his back.
