Geekiness

The other days I decided to see if there was any free software that'd work with the DeLorme Tripmate GPS unit [livejournal.com profile] innocentkermit gave me a few years back.

Didn't find any, but I did find info that told me how to talk to it over a serial port. Including the init string it wants.

So, after doing some digging for an old adapter plug, I hooked it up to one of my Tandy Model 100 system (a 20 year old 8085-based notebook computer).
I received the data strings ok in the terminal program.

I guess the next step (when I next feel geeky) is grabbing the source code for the old XModem program I co-authored and modifying it so I can display the GPs time & position data on the M100.
