It can't Happen Here

In the past I've mentioned Sinclair Lewis's It can't Happen Here. I'd heard about it but never read it.

The other day I did google search using slightly different phrasing than I had in the past. The first hit was this review.

Farther down, I found the book on Australia's Project Gutenberg site.

It's not the greatest book. But it's readable. And a lot of the parts about how Buzz Windrip got elected seems *awfully familiar in style, if not detail to how the current administration got into office.

After that, it gets rather less likely. On the other hand the reasons the people go along are still familiar.

Say it isn't so!

The well known "classic" Eye of Argon is actually *in print*. Like, from a real publisher and all that.

And the TML poster who noted this, also supplied a link to an MST3K'ed version:

(For those who don't know, Eye of Argon is widely regarded as the *worst* bit of fiction to ever hit the fan world.
