Advice for magic users

And for folks who are dealing with the unknown.

"Never call up that which you cannot put down."
Never read a spell aloud unless you intend to cast it.
Never read something aloud if you don't know what it is.
Never read something aloud if you don't know how to pronounce it.
Don't trace symbols with your finger either.
If you are bleeding, don't let the blood fall on that ancient artifact/manuscript/whatever.
Don't curse or call upon God (any god) in holy/unholy places accidentally.
Don't do so deliberately either unless you *know* what will happen.
Never say "I wish" around ancient artifacts.

I'll add more as they come to me. It ain't the Evil Overlord list, but it fills a need.

Don't try to sound out those almost-familiar words.

Buffy's Guide to the Supernatural and Occult shit.

Also, things locked away in tombs behind multiple traps are probably meant to stay there for good reasons.

Unless the DM is sick and twisted and lets you think it's trapped when in fact it isn't...
