We lost the Moon when it was blasted out of orbit.
We may never know what happened to the folks on Moonbase Alpha.

At the 1991 RubiCon in Lexington, KY we had the "Moonbase Alpha in 1999" Bed Party:

That's like a bid party, but with more people collapsed on the bed. :-)
I also have photos on Flickr of the "Moonbase Alpha in 1999" party at a WorldCon, but don't remember which offhand.
