I hadn't thought before about digital paper being able to emit sound, but it can't be any more difficult for the nanites than emitting light would be, so I don't see why it couldn't. Hell, you could probably hook digital paper to a wireless network and use it to have a video conference with someone else. Or pretend to be reading, and actually be browsing the UNINET (inter-stellar Internet) for porn.
