Thank you for posting this link - I'm utterly disgusted by the so-called doctor Zucker. I think his "treatment" is misguided, cruel, and counterproductive. I know several transpeople, and while I do not pretend they represent all transpeople, to a person they're happier acknowledging who they really are rather than trying to pretend what they aren't.
Heck, I know people of all walks of life - they're all happier when they accept the fullness of who they are rather than trying to hide or suppress parts of themselves. Would that more people could accept that.
Have you seen the posts in the various trans communities here about the fact that Zucker is on the APA committee that's revising the "gender identity disorders" section of the DSM??
I've seen that (though not from those sources), yes - and I'm disgusted. I only have an undergrad degree in psych, but it's enough to have the basics... IMHO, Zucker is a hack who shouldn't have a shingle. I find his heading that committee very worrisome, and have no clue what, if anything, I can do about it.
