Geek meme

Swiped from [livejournal.com profile] gridlore

List 5 reasons why you are a geek. And make them good reasons. Justify them. Explain them. Be loud & proud about how big of a geek you are!

1. My first computing experience was in my junior year in high school when my electronics teacher recommended me for a no credit course in computer programming at Gonzaga University. I learned FORTRAN on an IBM 360. And punched my own card.

2. I started gaming in 1974 with the "wood grain box" edition of D&D. And have *extensive* notes on the worlds I started designing back then. Haven't had time to do much with them in a while, but I've got a paper box full of just *my* gaming stuff. That's stuff I've written drawn. Not actual purchased stuff. That's *several* other boxes.

3. [livejournal.com profile] gridlore mentioned odd gaming systems. I own a copy of the TSR release (first ed) of Empire of the Petal Throne. I have all 7 issues of the TSR magazine that *preceeded* The Dragon. I have all three editions of Gamma World and the First three of Boot Hioll, as well as Metamorphis Alpha. I havbe the original 3 volumes of the Arduin Grimoire. And on and on...

4. I have computers that date back to 1978 (I got that one second hand). I still own my first computer. I owbn computers that use 8" floppies. As well as ones that use 5.25" floppies. And a number that use cassette tape (Including actual honest to God IBM PCs)

5. I have *three* domains and responsibility for a 4th, I have file servers accessible over the net (no, I'm not telling you how). I have a weather station posting iinfo to a page on one of my web sites.

And a 6th that only real geeks/nerds will get:
I've been on the Internet since before the "Great Renaming on Usenet, And before the domain naming system. My first *three* email addresses were bang path style addresses.
