I'm Mobile!
Lin and Kermit were getting new phones and renewing their calling plan. Lin needed a particular phone as it works better for her. Kermit was going for a phone that was on a special deal. Buy 1 for $29.95, get a second free.
So I went in with them and got my phone for free (and they got a $25 credit for "referring" me. Which meant that Kermit's new phone was almost free as well. :-)
If anyone cares about such details, it's a Kyocera 2325.
The accessory list shows a serial to phone cable available, so I'll at least be able to use it as a cellular modem with my laptop if I get that. If I'm *really* lucky, I may be able to do that with my handheld as well, but I'm not holding my breath on *that* working.
I have a headset left over from a cordless phone that didn't work out so I'm set there. Though I may upgrade that to a better headset some day.
Anyway, I will no longer be looking for phone booths when wandering around town and needing to make a call. And people will be able to reach me when I'm out. Though I'm only giving the cell number to Lin, Kermit,
griffen, and Kathy for now.
